OXFORD, Miss. (4/11/26) – Arkansas State track and field posted five first-place finishes and sophomore sprinter Syriah Boyd set a school record in the women’s 400 meters on Friday at the Joe Walker Invite.
The Galesburg, Illinois, native clocked in at 53.45 and finished second in the event while Jada Buggs was one spot behind with a time of 55.04. Boyd passes Charmisha Morrow’s previous program best of 53.67 set in 2011, while Buggs moves from ninth to eighth in the program’s outdoor history for the event.
Kiara Strayhorn recorded her first event win in the 100-meter hurdles and the sixth of her collegiate career after registering a personal-best time of 14.04. Six tenths of a second separated the junior from JoJo Modile, who finished second with a time of 14.10.
Joe Edwards made his individual debut in the 2026 outdoor season and won the 1500 meters event. The freshman from Memphis holds the sixth-best outdoor time in A-State’s 1500-meter history after crossing the finish line at the 3:47.11 mark.
Brandon Williams established a new personal best and jumped to eighth in A-State’s outdoor history for the men’s 800 meters. The Oxford, Mississippi, native posted a time of 1:49.72 and finished first in the event.
Selase Sampram secured her second shot put event win of the 2026 outdoor campaign after throwing for a distance of 16.25m (53-3.75), and Erika Krueger finished at first place in the women’s 5000 meters with a time of 17:46.97. Overall, The Red Wolves finished inside the top three in 17 events and established 18 personal bests.

The Red Wolves will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, and host the A-State Alumni Classic on April 17-18.
