HARAHAN, La. (3/18/26) – The third-seeded Arkansas State women’s bowling team opened the Conference USA Bowling Championship with a 2-0 mega-match victory over 10th-seeded Wright State.
A-State (73-32) opened the match with a 956-820 tally in the traditional game. Amanda Lang led the Red Wolves downing 226 pins while Kaylee Back totaled 216. Maggie Thoma (183), Malaya Chavez (171) and Alex-Anne Auclair (160) also bowled in the traditional game.
The Red Wolves grabbed a 30-pin advantage in the opening game of the 5-game Baker series with a 181-151 advantage. Wright State took the second game 196-190, but A-State added to the margin with a 219-185 difference in game three. A-State had a three-pin edge, 188-185, in game four to carry a 61-pin lead to the finale and clinched the victory by a margin of 1,006-894 with a tally of 228-177 in game five.
A-State continues double-elimination bracket play Thursday at 9:00 a.m. against No. 7 Youngstown State. The match will air on ESPN+.
