TULSA, Okla. (2/28/26) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team battled Tulsa to a 3-3 tie but fell 4-3 Sunday afternoon.
Tulsa (6-9) took the doubles point winning on court two over A-State’s Helena Bueno and Anna Grigoreva 6-1 and on court three over Hanmare McAslin and Sarah Millard 6-2. Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi were tied 3-3 on court one when the point was clinched.
A-State (5-5) evened the match with Meghna Arun Kumar topping Alice Baba 7-5, 6-2 on court five. The Red Wolves gained a 2-1 lead with Grigoreva’s 6-2, 6-2 win over Isabella Basson on court two, but Tulsa evened the match with Carolina Alonso outlasting McAslin 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 on court three. Tulsa grabbed a 3-2 advantage with Maria Santos’ 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win over Cvanciger on court one, but Bueno made it 3-3 with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) win over Coral Valle on court four. The match came down to court six with Erin McKenzie edging Muro Castellvi 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.
The Red Wolves visit Lipscomb for a match on Wednesday at noon before closing out the week at Alabama State on Thursday.
