JONESBORO, Ark. (1/25/26) – Arkansas State (18-4, 9-1 SBC) overcame an 18-point deficit to complete their home stand undefeated in their 74-67 win over James Madison (14-8, 6-3 SBC) Sunday afternoon at First National Bank Arena.

Junior guard Crislyn Rose scored 28 points on 64 percent (9-of-14) efficiency and a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. Zyion Shannon totaled 15 points, hitting both three-point attempts, and making 5-of-6 free throws (83 percent).

The Red Wolves shot 45 percent (27-of-60) compared to James Madison’s 47 percent (28-of-59), and won the turnover battle, 25 to 18.

A-State had a slow start despite Rose scoring the first point of the game, only scoring two more within the first five minutes of the game. Heading into the backside of the period JMU built a 12-0 run before a Marlie Dickerson triple left the first quarter score 23-9 for the Dukes.

The Red Wolves worked to tread water in the second quarter, with layups from Wynter Rogers and Bella Weary. JMU extended their lead as far as 18 before back-to-back threes from Mia Tarver and Zyion Shannon pulled Arkansas State back in, and a pair of layups to end the quarter helped to draw the score to 35-25 at halftime.

Arkansas State, at the hands of Rose’s 12 points in the third quarter, whittled the lead down to just five for the Dukes. Rose accounted for all but four points in the quarter, including landing three layups in a row, and hitting all four free throws.

Shannon struck a triple and Rose found the basket within the opening minute of the final quarter to tie the game and put James Madison on their heels. Tarver joined in for a slashing drive down the baseline followed by a catch-and-release three to pair up with a Shannon layup and a free throw from Rose for a 6-0 run. Yves Cox stepped up in the closing minutes to hit three layups and begin JMU’s attempts to work back into the lead by sending Red Wolves to the free throw line. Free throws from Shannon and Rose were A-State’s final points.
