JONESBORO, Ark. (12/3/25) – Arkansas State women’s basketball (6-3, 0-0 SBC) outscored Florida Gulf Coast (2-5, 0-0 ASUN) 13-2 in the final three minutes of the game to secure their fourth consecutive win on Wednesday night at First National Bank Arena, 68-58.
Junior guard Crislyn Rose erupted for 20 of her 22 points in the second half, going a perfect 4-for-4 beyond the arc and making all four free throws. Zyion Shannon scored nine points, led the team with nine rebounds, snatched three steals, and dished out four assists. Wynter Rogers scored seven points on 50 percent shooting (3-for-6), grabbed seven boards, and reached for two blocks.
A-State shot 25-of-69 (34.3 percent) from the floor and tallied 11 threes on 38 tries (28.9 percent). The Red Wolves won the turnover battle for the seventh time this season (24-13) and limited the Eagles to 26 fewer shots on the night (69-43).
After trading one-point leads early in the first quarter, FGCU landed a triple and a layup before using a perfect trip at the free-throw line to move ahead 16-11. In the final 30 seconds of the quarter Mia Tarver buried a triple to cut into the lead for a one-score game, 14-16.
Bella Weary opened the second with a layup and tied the game, but the Eagles made three-pointers on their next two possessions to put the Red Wolves at arm’s length. The lead swelled to eight in the final minutes of the half until Shannon found her footing on a three and closed the gap to five going into halftime with a driving layup at the buzzer-Eagles leading 35-30.
A slow start out of halftime, the only Red Wolf points in the first five minutes came on a putback layup from Rogers and a D’Arrah Allen three. Then came alive Crislyn Rose. To end the quarter, Rose landed a pair of threes, drew a foul at the basket, made both shots, poked away a steal, made space for a pullup jumper on it, and netted another floater in the paint. Her efforts placed A-State just one point behind heading into the last 10 minutes, 49-50.
Rose’s hot hand carried over, draining a triple to set the Red Wolves in front, and expanded upon the lead the next possession when she hit green from three again for a 55-50 lead. The Red Wolves went scoreless for the next 6:41, allowing the Eagles to mount a 6-0 run and take a 56-55 lead.
Stifling defense and a timely second chance three from Mimi McCollister shifted momentum in A-State’s favor and started what would become their 13-2 finale. Rogers tapped in a putback layup and completed the three-point play at the charity stripe. FGCU responded with a jumper, but McCollister angled in another three before Rose and Shannon each made a pair of free throws in the waning seconds.
