COLUMBUS, Ga. (11/11/25) – Arkansas State men’s golf senior Thomas Schmidt earned a spot on the 2025-2026 Haskins Awards presented by Stifel Final Fall Watch List, which was announced by the foundation Tuesday.
Schmidt has led A-State to an impressive start this season with a 68.40 stroke average playing at a combined 54-under par over five events. Over 15 rounds in the fall, Schmidt was par or better in 14 including nine in the 60s.
Carding the second-lowest 54-hole score relative to par in NCAA men’s golf history, Schmidt was individual medalist at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. He totaled 22-under par 194 with an eagle, 22 birdies, 29 pars and just two bogeys. Schmidt finished runner-up in the next two tournaments and finished inside the top 25 in all five events over the course of the fall season.
The Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Month for September, Schmidt ranks 25th in the latest Scoreboard National Collegiate Golf individual rankings. Schmidt has helped A-State to three consecutive tournament titles and a team ranking of No. 37.
Beginning in 1971, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer as voted on by only college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media. Past winners of the Haskins Award presented by Stifel have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournaments around the world. Named in honor of Fred Haskins, the award is managed by the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top male golfer at the end of the season and to match the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top female Division I collegiate golfer.
Schmidt and the Red Wolves begin the spring portion of the 2025-2026 season March 15-17 at the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State.
