JONESBORO, Ark. (10/30/25) – Arkansas State cross country begins postseason competition with the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley, Ala.
The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with the women’s 5K slated for 8:32 a.m. and the men’s 8K to follow at 9:15 a.m.

THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
1. THE QUEST FOR GOLD: Arkansas State cross country is looking add their eighth team conference championship in program history, and their first since the 2023 season. The men’s team has won two conference titles since 1991, claiming back-to-back championships in 2021 and 2022. The women’s team has won five conference championships since 1991, achieving the feat in 2013, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023. Jacob Pyeatt (2024) is the last individual conference champion for either team, posting a time of 23:52.80 in the men’s 8K.
2. INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONS: There have been nine individual conference champions in program history. Bob Giersberg (1967) was the first of seven on the men’s team, while Kristina Aubert (2013) and Pauline Meyer (2021) are the only two for the women’s squad. Jacob Pyeatt (2024) is the last individual conference champion for either team, posting a time of 23:52.80 in the men’s 8K.
3. CARLO ON THE GO: Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo shattered his previous personal best in the 8K at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas, clocking in at 23:46.6. The time beats his previous best by 1:38.8 and resulted in a 25th-place finish out of 323 participants. The Gatesville, Texas, native earned Sun Belt Conference Men’s Runner of the Week honors, his first as a member of the Scarlet and Black.
