JONESBORO, Ark. (10/6/25) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team has six players in the top 25 and leads the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate after 36 holes at RidgePointe Country Club.
Seven of eight A-State golfers were under par in the first round, led by Schmidt’s 6-under par 66. Schmidt followed with a second round even-par 72 to total 6-under par 138, one stroke back of Luke Caldwell of UT Martin for the individual lead. Jake Wallis had the low round in the second round, 5-under par 67, to total 5-under par 139, two strokes back of the lead. Milan Reed had back-to-back rounds under par to total 4-under par 140 (69-71) to tie for fourth while Jake Lile is tied for seventh at 2-under par 142 (70-72). Chris Somerfield is tied for 24th with a total of 4-over par 148 (72-76). Playing as individuals, Viggo Hed is tied for 12th (72-73/145), Niels Knudsen is tied for 41st (77-74/151) and Cole Kirby is tied for 44th (72-80/152).
A-State opened with an 11-under par 277 and followed it with a 6-under par 282 for 17-under par 559, nine shots better than UT Martin. East Texas A&M (+8), Murray State (+9) and Bellarmine (+13) complete the top five. Course conditions varied throughout the day with rain in the area, but play was never halted. The first round scoring average was 75.35 while the second round average was 74.75.
The third and final round begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start. Live scoring is available on SCOREBOARD.
