LAFAYETTE, La. (9/18/25) – Arkansas State Women’s Soccer (2-1-4, 0-0-2 SBC) tied their conference-opening road game in a 1-1 draw Thursday night against Louisiana (3-4-2, 0-1-1 SBC).
Despite being out-shot 17-4 in total, the Red Wolves stayed even on the scoresheet thanks to eight saves from senior keeper Damaris Deschaine, her most of the season.
The Red Wolves scored first when sophomore Alexia Watts won the ball from a Kennedy Horn lob, walled off her defender, and side-stepped the charging goalie for an empty-net goal, scoring for the third time this season.
The Ragin’ Cajuns stormed out of halftime scoring in the first minute of the half to even the score. Both defenses bowed up in the second half, with only three combined shots on goal recorded.
