ATLANTA, Ga. (8/31/25) – Arkansas State volleyball (1-2, 0-0 SBC) battled against No. 22 Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon, falling in a 3-1 (27-25, 22-25, 21-25, 22-25) decision inside O’Keefe Gymnasium.

The opening set featured little separation on the scoreboard, as neither side established a lead of more than three points. The Red Wolves led late, but the Yellow Jackets won three consecutive rallies to force a 23-23 tie before splitting the next four.
Van Veen and Devyn Lewis fired back-to-back kills on assists from Erin Madigan to end the set, pushing the Scarlet and Black ahead 1-0 (27-25).
Another kill for Van Veen sparked a 5-0 scoring run in the second set, resulting in a 12-6 advantage. The lead peaked at seven before a surge from Georgia Tech erased it. A kill from Cail made the score 18-17 in favor of A-State, but eight of the next 12 rallies went to the opposition and ended the set.
After dropping the first rally of the third set, Cail recorded another kill along with a block assist alongside Van Veen to start a 7-0 scoring run. The Yellow Jackets chipped away at the advantage, eventually moving ahead 13-12 before opening a five-point gap.

Down 21-17, Lewis and Addison Collum recorded back-to-back kills while three consecutive attack errors pushed A-State ahead for the first time in the set. The rally effort would not be enough, as Georgia Tech used three consecutive kills end the match.
