JONESBORO, Ark. (6/20/25) – Arkansas State men’s basketball head coach Ryan Pannone announced Friday the hiring of Anthony Goods to his 2025-26 staff as an assistant coach.
Goods moves into coaching after serving as a Draft Scouting Consultant for the Detroit Pistons. In addition, he operated as the Chief Marketing Officer and Co-Founder of Swish Cultures starting in 2017, covering the NBA, WNBA, and various professional basketball leagues overseas.
“Anthony Goods comes to us from the Detroit Pistons,” Pannone said. “He spent four years in the NBA, was a great player at Stanford, and played 11 years professionally in different countries. He’s one of the most talented people I think that you’ll come across. We’re going to be able to feel his energy, his enthusiasm, his talent, his mind for the game, and his eye for the game.
When we have an opportunity to add someone with his status as a player and coming from the NBA front office that’s evaluating the talent, preparing guys for the draft, evaluating draft orders, and how they want to scout high school and current college players, we’re fortunate to get him. I think he’s going to be a great influence on our players and on our staff as someone that’s lived in their shoes at the highest level of performing in college, performing academically, knowing what it takes to get out into the community. Someone that’s been in their shoes for where they want to go as a professional player, and then now someone that’s really evaluating talent at the NBA level, that’s going to be able to really give these guys exactly what they need to know and what these pro teams are looking for on the front office side.”
Goods earned two All PAC-10 Honorable Mentions in four seasons at Stanford, averaging 10.9 points on a 38.6 percent clip from the field and a 36.4 percent mark from three-point range. The Corona, Calif., native led the team with 16.2 points per game on 41.7 percent shooting and converted a team high 71 three pointers during his senior campaign with the Cardinal in 2008-09.
He graduated from Stanford with a bachelor’s degree in communications.
Goods joined the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA D-League – known now as the NBA G-League – in 2009-10 before moving to the Dakota Wizards and Fort Wayne Mad Ants over the next two seasons. His overseas career began in between the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons with Trotamundos de Carabobo in Venezuela.
After concluding his final season in the D League, Goods played professionally for clubs in France, Israel, Italy, Poland, and Ukraine before concluding his playing career in 2019.
