JONESBORO, Ark. (6/6/25) – Arkansas State men’s golf head coach Mike Hagen announced Friday that 2025 Southland Conference Freshman of the Year Viggo Hed has joined the program for the 2025-26 season.
“I’m thrilled to add Viggo to our roster for next season,” Hagen said. “Viggo brings valuable collegiate experience as evident by earning all-conference and Freshman of the Year honors. He is a proven winner, and we look forward to the success he will have in our program.”
Named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and second team all-conference following his initial collegiate season at Southeastern Louisiana, Hed led his team with a 72.50 stroke average over 26 rounds. Hed finished the season with 12 of his 26 rounds par or better and had 10 rounds under par.
Hed posted a season-low 6-under par 66 in his first round of the season on way to a third-place finish at the Grover Page Classic. He earned individual medalist honors at the Husky Intercollegiate finishing at 5-under par 211. On the season, he was inside the top 30 in seven of nine events, placing in the top 15 five times.
A native of Halmstad, Sweden, Hed earned multiple top 10 finishes in his prep career. He finished second at both the Galvin Green Junior Open and Crecy Juniors International Tournaments in 2023. His late father, Fredrick Andersson Hed, was a champion on the European Tour.
