MOBILE, Ala. (5/18/25) – A trio of Arkansas State track and field athletes notched event wins on Sunday, competing at the South Alabama Last Chance meet at the Jaguar Track.
Liya Guy won the women’s discus (43.75m/143-6) and tossed a career-best 12.66m (41-6.5) to place second in the women’s shot put.
Menachem Chen placed first in the men’s discus with a throw of 52.15m (171-1) and was second in the men’s shot put with a mark of 17.68m (58-0.25).
Carly Pujol won the women’s pole vault for the three straight meet and fifth time in the last seven outings, clearing 4.11m (13-5.75).
In the men’s pole vault, Gavin Schaer cleared a collegiate-best 5.11m (16-9.25) in his fourth-place finish.
Tyra Nabors ran 13.62 in the 100-meter hurdles, placing second.
In the men’s 100 meters, Camren Bailey was second with a time of 10.42.
Kamil Przybyla paced four Red Wolves in the men’s 800 meters, running 1:54.58 for a runner-up finish. Brett Jacobs (1:55.45), Jacob Pyeatt (1:55.89) and Avinash Patel (1:56.18) followed in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Miranda Burgett was sixth in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.61m (5-3.25).
NEXT UP
A-State will send multiple athletes to the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, scheduled for May 28-31 in College Station, Texas.
