HARRISONBURG, Va. (5/10/25) – Arkansas State track and field had three athletes top the podium on Saturday at Sentara Park, highlighting the final day at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships.
All three occurred for the men’s team, which finished second in the standings with 126 points. A-State’s women placed fifth with 69 points, as Texas State swept the team titles.
Jacob Pyeatt – who was one of two men’s High Point Scorers – set a meet record in the men’s 5000 meters to earn his second gold medal of the weekend, running 13:50.83 and finishing over 30 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher. Evan Stevens placed ninth in the event with a time of 14:37.91 that moved him to eighth in program history in the event.
Colby Eddowes captured gold in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.51 and led a 17-point charge in the event. Josh Jones ran a career-best 14.01 to place fifth, while Kenyon Parker was sixth with a time of 14.30.
Menachem Chen won the men’s discus throw with a stellar series that included a top mark of 54.05m (177-4). Noa Isaia scored three points, tossing the implement 50.27m (164-11).
Brandon Williams took silver in the men’s 800 meters, crossing the line in 1:50.93. Kamil Przybyla (1:55.59) and Brett Jacobs (1:55.62) followed, placing seventh and eighth.
Przybyla also ran in the men’s 1500-meter final, taking bronze with a time of 3:52.31. Avinash Patel (3:56.70), Jacobs (4:00.14) and Aviel Gasko (4:00.14) finished the race in 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Tyra Nabors earned bronze with her career-best time of 13.56.
Camren Bailey scored five points in the men’s 100 meters, placing fourth with a time of 10.35.
Michelle Ogbemudia also placed fourth, doing so in the women’s discus throw by matching her career best with a throw of 45.40m (148-11). Liya Guy hurled a season-best 45.15m (148-1) to place sixth and tally three points.
In the men’s 400-meter hurdles, Jones and Parker combined for six points with respective placements of fifth (52.28) and seventh (56.59).
Sammy Mason notched a sixth-place finish in the women’s 1500-meter final, running a time of 4:27.72 that is third in program history and earning three points.
Olivia Walter scored two points with a seventh-place finish in the women’s 5000 meters. Her time of 17:03.45 moved her to ninth in program history and put her ahead of four other Red Wolves in the event. Sammy Mason (17:24.37) and Delaney Mulick (17:42.28) placed 11th and 14th, while Devyn O’Daniel (17:43.96) and Ivanna Hargis (18:23.91) were 15th and 30th.
The Red Wolves placed eighth in the men’s 4×100-meter relay, running 40.84. In the women’s 4×400-meter relay, A-State was 10th with a season-best 3:47.31.
Four A-State athletes tied for 10th in the women’s high jump, as Ashley Guadamuz, Isabel Daines, Miranda Burgett and Madison Holloway all cleared 1.58m (5-2.25).
In the men’s triple jump, Matthew Williams jumped 14.19m (46-6.75) to place 11th.
