JONESBORO, Ark. (5/3/25) – Arkansas State men’s basketball head coach Ryan Pannone announced Saturday the addition of transfer Jaxon Ellingsworth to the 2025-26 roster.

Ellingsworth joins the Red Wolves after spending this past season at UT Arlington. The 6-9 forward appeared in 28 games for the Mavericks with one start, averaging 5.1 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting at a 49-percent mark from the field. The Morehead City, N.C., native also shot 33 percent from 3-point range and was a 76.6-percent shooter at the foul line.

“Jaxon Ellingsworth is a 6-9, stretch-four who has the ability to bring bigger defenders out, beat them off closeouts, pick-and-pop and shoot the ball from three,” Pannone said. “He shot 33% from three, but the goal to get him up to 37-plus percent. He does a really good job of attacking closeouts with physicality, getting into the body of the defender, drawing fouls, finishing at the rim, and he’s a very good offensive rebounder. He does a good job of collecting cheap points between cuts, dump-offs, offensive rebounds, and a high free-throw rate. He’s someone that we think will add another element with the big guys that we already have who can play in our offensive system. Our open, free style and open paint will be really good for him. Defensively, can close out, contain, and has shown a really good level of toughness, and we think his experience and familiarity of playing at the Division-I level is going to really help us. At the junior college level, he was a pretty high-level scorer at Gulf Coast Community where he played with Christian Harmon in Christian’s freshman year.”

In his junior season at UTA (2024-25), Ellingsworth notched five double-digit scoring efforts off the bench, including 19 on 4-5 from three at USC (Nov. 13) and at Missouri State (Nov. 19). He also grabbed a season-best nine rebounds at ULM on Dec. 2.

Prior to his lone season in Arlington, Ellingsworth spent the 2023-24 campaign at Gulf Coast State College – playing alongside fellow A-State signee Christian Harmon – where he appeared in 25 games (23 starts) and was named a First Team All-Panhandle Conference performer. He averaged 17 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 50.2 percent from the field and 86.8 percent at the free-throw line.

Ellingworth spent his freshman season (2022-23) at East Carolina, appearing in five games for the Pirates.

He is now the seventh signing for Pannone’s first season leading the Red Wolves, joining Jalen Hampton (Missouri State transfer), Chandler Jackson (Florida State), Matt Hayman (Stephen F. Austin), TJ Caldwell (Ole Miss), Chudi Dioramma (Sacramento State) and Christian Harmon (Gulf Coast State College).
