Peirce Joins A-State Bowling for 2018-19
JONESBORO, Ark. (5/15/18) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team announced Tuesday that Krysta Peirce has transferred into the program and will be able to compete for the Red Wolves during the 2018-19 season.
A native of Eastpointe, Mich., Peirce bowled the last two seasons at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H., and helped the Ravens jump into the National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 Poll several times. However, Franklin Pierce has discontinued women’s bowling and Peirce has chosen to come to Arkansas State.
“I’m very excited to have Krysta join our program,” A-State head women’s bowling coach Justin Kostick said. “Her experience will be valuable for the upcoming season since we will have such a young team.”
Peirce is a two-time All-East Coast Conference selection as she earned second-team accolades as a freshman and was a first-team honoree during her sophomore season. Additionally, Peirce was a Golden Bear Classic All-Tournament First-Team selection during her sophomore season and bowled a high game of 260 during the event. She helped lead the Ravens to a 49-41 record during the 2017-18 season and a second-place finish in the ECC Championship Tournament, the highest for Franklin Pierce in program history.
The 2016-17 campaign saw Peirce win the ECC Rookie of the Week award twice along with placement on the ECC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She claimed a NTCA academic award as well and throughout the season she totaled 252 strikes with 318 spares.
Peirce bowled for Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores, Mich., and was the Macomb Area Conference Blue Division III MVP for three straight seasons.
The Arkansas State women’s bowling squad recently completed its 11th straight NCAA Tournament appearance in a tie for fifth place. The Red Wolves registered an 88-36 record with the 88 wins representing the third most in school history.
