JONESBORO, Ark. (4/24/18) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team announced Tuesday that Sheila Sutfin has chosen to continue her bowling career as a member of the Red Wolves starting with the 2018-19 season.
Sutfin, a native of Naperville, Ill., prepped at Neuqua Valley High School, where she was a four-year varsity starter for the Wildcats. She was a DuPage Valley Conference (DVC) All-Conference selection as a senior and was also a member of the DVC All-Academic team. A team captain for the last two seasons, Sutfin was also a DVC Honorable Mention honoree in 2016-17 and garnered DVC All-Academic accolades in 2015-16.
“Sheila has a nice, fundamental game and she has all the qualities we look for in a player,” A-State head women’s bowling coach Justin Kostick said. “I’m excited to see what she can bring to the team and glad to add her to this class.”
Additionally, Sutfin was named the Athlete of the Season this year by the Neuqua Valley Booster Club and was the Most Valuable Bowler for the squad during the 2016-17 season. She’s a four-time Junior Gold qualifier and was the St. Charles East Invitational Individual Champion. She was also the Elite Youth Tour Joliet Champion and registered a second-place finish at the Illinois All-Star Shootout along with a seventh-place showing in the Illinois Pepsi State Youth Tournament.
The Arkansas State women’s bowling squad recently completed its 11th straight NCAA Tournament appearance in a tie for fifth place. The Red Wolves registered an 88-36 record with the 88 wins representing the third most in school history.
