Most of us assume that because we can buy something, by definition, it means we can afford it. This mistaken assumption may be the single biggest reason we are plagued with debt and can’t seem to get ahead financially, regardless of our income.

The truth is, we buy things we cannot afford all the time. Adopting a stricter, clearer definition of affordability is a major key to getting your spending under control and managing your money effectively. Here are things to consider.
