Tim Holland Jr. Signs With A-State Men’s Basketball

June 24, 2020

JONESBORO, Ark. (6/24/20) – Arkansas State men’s basketball head coach Mike Balado announced Wednesday that forward Tim Holland Jr. has signed a grant-in-aid to join the 2020-21 roster.

A top-100 JUCO player, Holland spent his sophomore season at Palm Beach State College. Holland played in 28 games making 27 starts while averaging 15.7 points and 11.1 rebounds to earn First Team All-Conference honors. He shot 54.9 percent (186-339) from the field while blocking 60 shots, 23rd-most in NJCAA. His 224 defensive rebounds ranked seventh while his 311 total rebounds ranked him 13th in NJCAA. Finishing with 19 double-doubles on the season, Holland posted double figures in 24 games while pulling down double figure rebounds in 21 games.

As a freshman at Temple College, Holland played in 19 games averaging 9.6 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 55.4 percent (72-130) from the field. He logged double figures in 10 games while finishing with a double-double in four games.

Holland signed with UT Arlington out of high school (2017-18), but redshirted before transferring to Temple College. A 2017 graduate of Cedar Ridge High School, Holland was a three-time all-district 13-6A selection. He led his team to its first-ever playoff win in his senior season. He averaged 17 points, eight rebounds and two blocks per game during his three varsity seasons. He was ranked as the No. 22 player in the state of Texas by Texas Basketball Review and No. 32 by Texas Top 100.

Mike Balado, A-State Head Coach
“We are thrilled to welcome Tim to our family. To get a player of his talent this late in the year, is a blessing for us. Tim is a high-level athlete, with excellent length that can score around the basket. He is a persistent rebounder and plays with extreme passion. Tim fits our program perfectly and we can’t wait to get him on campus soon.”

Richard Grant, Palm Beach State Head Coach
“Tim is a tough kid and you don’t have to draw up any plays for him because he is going to create extra possessions. He’s going to rebound out of his area and it says a lot about him how much pride he takes in rebounding. He is a super athlete and has room to grow in the weight room. I think Arkansas State is getting a steal in getting Tim Holland Jr.”
