NEW ORLEANS, La. (1/23/19) – Senior sprinter Caitland Smith, junior distance runner Heinrich Herbst and senior pole vaulter Michael Carr each earned Sun Belt Conference Track & Field weekly honors, the league office announced Wednesday.

Smith receives Sun Belt Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. She continued her strong start to the season by winning the 60-meter and 200-meter dash at the Samford Invite. She clocked a time of 7.46 to win the 60-meter dash, a Sun Belt leading time and the third-fastest in program history. In the 200-meter dash, she finished in 24.25 seconds and she continues to lead the league performance list.

Herbst picked up Sun Belt Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week honors for his efforts in the 800-meter run. He took first place honors in the 800-meter run at the Samford Invite with a time of 1:54.98. With that time, Herbst ranks third on the Sun Belt Conference Performance list.

Carr earned the Sun Belt Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week accolade. He recorded a personal-best vault of 5.32m (17-5.50) to win the Samford Invite. The clearance leads the Sun Belt Conference and ranks him 14th on the NCAA list. The mark ranks him 10th on the indoor performance list at Arkansas State.

The Red Wolves host the A-State Invitational Friday inside First National Bank Arena. Field events commence at 1:00 p.m. with action on the track scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
