The A-State Baseball Falls to Louisiana Tech 9-4

RUSTON, La. (3/1/19) – The A-State baseball team fell to Louisiana Tech 9-4 Friday at J.C Love Field Friday evening.

With the loss, the Red Wolves drop to 7-3 on the season while the Bulldogs move to 7-2 on the year.

The Red Wolves found momentum in the top of the sixth when Sky-Lar Culver doubled to left field to put himself in scoring position, then Jaylon Deshazier singled up the middle to score Culver to pull within 7-4.

The Bulldogs had a strong third inning when Parker Bates singled to the pitcher which advanced Netterville to second and scored Mallard, then Chris Clayton doubled down the right field line for a triple RBI and scored Robinson, Bates and Steele Netterville to take a five-run lead over the Red Wolves.

In the of top of the first with two outs and the bases loaded Culver doubled to left center to score Drew Tipton and Eli Davis to give the Red Wolves a 2-0 advantage over the Bulldogs. However, in the bottom of the first Millard singled to shortstop to score Hunter Wells, then stole second to put himself into scoring position, Netterville singled up the middle to score Mason Millard to even the score.

Louisiana Tech stretched its advantage 9-4 in the bottom of the seventh when Netterville homered to right field for an RBI double to score Mallard.

A-State will return to action Sat. March 2 when it competes in a series finale double-header against Louisiana Tech. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m. at J.C. Love Field.
