JONESBORO – The university community extends sympathy to the family and former associates of Dr. Roy Z. Gehring of Jonesboro, emeritus associate professor of environmental botany, who died Friday.

This evening, Thursday, Aug. 13, the Dean B. Ellis Library tower will be lighted scarlet in memorial tribute to Dr. Gehring.

Gehring, a faculty member for 32 years before his retirement in 2000, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Louisville, and his Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University. He was co-author, with a colleague, of a lab book used by his students.

Services were Tuesday at First Methodist Church in Jonesboro.  His obituary is online.
