Our women’s soccer team has a big home match-up scheduled for tomorrow (Oct. 27) at 3:00 p.m., when we host South Alabama in the regular-season finale.  The Red Wolves are in contention for the Sun Belt Conference regular-season title, and a victory over the Jaguars coupled with a Georgia State win or tie against Georgia Southern would secure our third consecutive regular-season league title.  We look forward to seeing everyone at the A-State Soccer Park tomorrow to cheer on the Red Wolves and help give us a great home-field advantage!

FOOTBALL: Howl-O-Ween, EYFT, Ag Day, concessions etc.

Following back-to-back road football games, we’re excited to get our Red Wolves back in front of a home crowd at Centennial Bank Stadium this Saturday, Oct. 29, when we play South Alabama. We’re excited about several promotions we have in place for this weekend’s game, which is our “Ag Day” and features a “Howl-O-Ween” theme.

Howl-O-Ween:  Kids, families and fans are encouraged to join in the fun by wearing costumes and taking part in the Howl-O-Ween activities that are set to begin at 12:00 p.m. with a Trunk or Treat experience in Halsey Thrasher Harpole Tailgate City, located directly west of Centennial Bank Stadium.  Along with fans and businesses that have a tent located in Tailgate City, A-State student-athletes will be passing out candy leading up to and after the Red Wolf Walk that starts at 12:45 p.m.

The Red Wolves’ student-athletes passing out candy will also be signing autographs and taking photos.  Led by members of our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), face painting, arts and crafts and additional photograph opportunities will be available in a tent located on the west side of Tailgate City.  The Hijinx Kids Zone will be located on the north side of Tailgate City, where special trick-or-treat bags will be distributed.

Additionally, a hayride with our student-athletes and sponsored by Greenway will be running at the football practice fields (located just south of Tailgate City) from 1:00-2:30 p.m.

During the game, the Sound of the Natural State will have a Halloween-themed halftime performance.  There will be a costume contest as well, and the winner will receive a party with Howl.  Halloween-themed music will also be played at times throughout the game.

Ag Day:  Greenway, Case IH, Farm Bureau, Ford and Farmers Union Insurance will serve as the game-day sponsors for Ag Day.  In support of Ag Day, our Athletics Department is offering $10 tickets in the east stands.  This special ticket promotion is currently available by clicking here or visiting

Tailgating:  Our Athletics Department is also extending our tailgate package promotion for the final three home football games of the season.  The tailgate package includes four tickets in the upper west stands, a tailgate plot in Halsey Thrasher Harpole Tailgate City and a parking pass for just $130.00 per game.  This option is available by clicking here or visiting

Game Day Concessions Special:  In partnership with Sodexo and A-State concessions, we are excited to offer a hot dog and 16 oz fountain drink game-day special for just $5 for our remaining three home football games. Fans can take advantage of this offer by visiting the concession stands located on the northwest and southeast sides of the concourses.  The hot dog and fountain drink special may be purchased with cash or by credit card.

Extra Yard for Teachers:  The Red Wolves’ Oct. 29 game also represents a great opportunity for schools, students and the community to come support area teachers.  The A-State Athletics Department has partnered with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation and Sun Belt Conference to award grants to six area teachers in conjunction with the “Extra Yard for Teachers” (EYFT) initiative.

As part of the CFP Foundation, EYFT is the largest sports entity specifically designed to support educators.  The funds from the six $1,000 awards will be used for classroom projects of the winning applicant’s choice.  Winners will be recognized during the game.

Premium Tickets:  There are several premium ticket options still available for our Oct. 29 game as well.  Premium single-game inventory is available for $375 per seat in the Woodard McAlister Family Club and $200 per seat in the North End Zone.  Fans may purchase seats on the club level for the remaining home games this season at a pro-rated price of $1,000 per seat and $2,150 for a box of four seats in the North End Zone.  Parking is included and these seats can renewed for next season at the normal rate.

We look forward to playing another home football game this Saturday before heading into our open week, which will begin at the Little Rock Touchdown Club (LRTC) on Monday, Oct. 31, with head coach Butch Jones serving as the featured speaker at the club’s weekly luncheon.  We’re excited to visit Little Rock and see everyone who can make it to the event being held at the DoubleTree Hotel.  The doors open at 11:00 a.m., and the program starts at 11:40 a.m.  The LRTC is offering any Arkansas State University alumni or fan the opportunity to purchase tickets at the member price of $25 by visiting and using the “First Down” membership option when ordering tickets.

Congratulations to head baseball coach Tommy Raffo, who is being inducted into Mississippi State’s Ron Polk Ring of Honor as part of the 2023 class.  Coach Raffo, a key part of the Bulldogs’ baseball history as both a standout player and assistant coach, will officially be inducted on Saturday, March 25. Full details can be viewed here.

Our women’s golf team finished runner-up at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational this past Sunday, completing the fall portion of the 2022-23 season with a stroke average of 293.33 that is on track to top the current program record of 296.52.  With five par or better rounds as a team this fall, A-State is only one shy of its program-record six set just last season.  The Red Wolves will begin their spring schedule Feb. 12-14 at the Tulane Classic.

Both our women’s and men’s cross country teams are set to defend their 2021 league titles this Friday (Oct. 28), when they will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championships at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley, Ala.  They have enjoyed a successful season thus far with each squad claiming two meet championships.  You can watch our women’s team run at 4:02 p.m. and men at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN+.

Women’s basketball head coach Destinee Rogers and sophomore guard Lauryn Pendleton, along with head men’s basketball coach Mike Balado and junior guard Caleb Fields did a great job representing the Red Wolves last week in New Orleans at the Sun Belt Conference Basketball Media Days.  If you missed it, you can still watch a replay of the event – the first in-person media days for the league since 2012-13 – on ESPN+.

Our men’s team is set to play a home exhibition game on Nov. 2 (7:00 p.m.) and the home and season opener Nov. 7 (7:00 p.m.) versus Harding.  Our women’s team begins the season with a pair of road games Nov. 10 and 14 before the home opener on Nov. 16 (7:00 p.m.) against Hendrix.

Our men’s basketball team hosted their annual “Boots and Ballers” event at First National Bank Arena on Oct. 20, and it proved to be another fantastic event.  We appreciate the great turnout and support from fans and donors. It was a great experience spending time with everyone while enjoying the program featuring our coaching staff and student-athletes.  This event wouldn’t be possible without the strong community support we receive. Coach Balado, Alicia Balado, the A-State Basketball Family, as well as our Athletics administration, did a terrific job making this a first-class experience for our fans and players.

With this week’s football game also serving as our Ag Day, we want to highlight and thank the Randall and Jeanette Pope family for recently establishing the Pope Family A-State Fund Endowment that brings their lifetime giving commitment to over $1 million – most of which benefits students at Arkansas State University through scholarships.

The Pope Family Fund will create scholarships for students studying in agricultural business or early childhood education, degree programs close to the hearts of Randall, an agricultural business graduate of A-State, and Jeanette, who was an education major. Read more here.

We also want to feature a recent interview conducted by A-State Chancellor Dr. Todd Shields with internationally-renowned scientist Dr. Argelia Lorence, who is both breaking new ground in her scientific endeavors and committed to working with undergraduate students.  Conducted at the Arkansas Biosciences Institute’s greenhouse, located on the Arkansas State University campus, the interview covers Lorence’s rice research that will benefit the agricultural community.  Watch the entire interview here.

One of this week’s #WolvesUp photos feature head women’s soccer coach Brian Dooley and our five soccer student-athletes who were honored on our program’s Senior Day this past Sunday. We want to thank Haley Husted, Hannah Maupin, Riley Minard, Hailey Rogers and Kayla Thomas for their academic and athletics contributions to the Red Wolves and Arkansas State University.

Another #WolvesUp photo this week features Wayne and Nonie Wiggins and Preston and Darlene Jones with their Wolves Up aboard Mayflower II in Plymouth, Mass.
