      PACK DAY

A full day of “Pack Day” activities are on tap Saturday, highlighted by our annual Spring Football Game presented by JTown’s Grill at 2:15 p.m.  The lineup includes the first-ever Pack Day Cornhole Classic, food trucks and vendors, the Hijinx Kids’ Zone, an Athletics Gear Sale, movie night at Centennial Bank Stadium and much more.  Additional information about Pack Day on April 15 is available on AStateRedWolves.com or by clicking here.

      GIVING BACK TO WYNNE
On Monday, several athletics staff members, coaches and student-athletes made a trip to Wynne to unload our equipment truck full of supplies and assist with tornado relief efforts.  We are so appreciative of those who generously donated supplies to the effort organized by Arkansas State University and Arkansas State Athletics.

      BOWLING ADVANCES TO FINAL FOUR
Our bowling team won the Rochester Regional last week to advance to Las Vegas for the NCAA Championship April 14-15 at South Point Bowling Plaza.  Assured of at least a top-four finish at the NCAA Championship for the fifth time in program history, we’ll bowl against Vanderbilt at 11:00 a.m. (CT) Friday in the double-elimination format that features each of the top four seeds.  Match two of the day will take place at 5:00 p.m. (CT) against either McKendree or Nebraska.  Follow A-State Bowling on Twitter (@AStateBowling) and Facebook (/AStateBowling) throughout the weekend for the most up to date information on our Red Wolves.

      DAY OF GIVING
On behalf of our entire athletics administration, coaches and student-athletes, we would like to thank everyone who participated in A-State Day of Giving this year!  We had a total of 41 contributions and raised $29,535 for our sports programs, which eclipsed our goal of $15,000. We greatly appreciate your support and can’t thank you enough for all you do for us.

      STACKING WINS
With five more top-100 wins, our men’s golf team continues to add to a productive spring.  So far this spring, our Red Wolves have a 42-18 head-to-head record and are up to No. 68 in the latest Golfstat rankings.  This week, A-State had three consecutive under-par rounds and posted the seventh-lowest 54-hole total in program history while finishing with five top-100 wins at the Tiger Intercollegiate.  Congrats to Thomas Schmidt on being named the Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week.

WOMEN’S GOLF HEADS TO DAYTONA BEACH
Next week, our women’s golf team travels to Daytona Beach, Fla., for the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championships.  A-State ranks seventh among the 12 SBC squads entering the tournament with a stroke average of 297.30, which is the second-best in program history.  The championship begins Sunday and wraps up with the final round on Tuesday at LPGA International.

      RECORD BREAKERS
Our track and field program continues to break school records while building toward the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships.  In the last two weeks, Pauline Meyer (3000m steeplechase) and Rahel Broemmel (1500m run) have set program records in their respective events.  Next weekend, April 21-22, we’ll host the Red Wolves Open at the A-State Track & Field Complex.  Congratulations to Rahel (distance) and Lauren Beauchamp (pole vault) on being named Sun Belt Conference Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week on Wednesday in their respective events.

      HOME FINALE
Our tennis squad will play the final home matches of the season this weekend at the A-State Tennis Courts.  A-State meets Troy Friday at 2:00 p.m. and closes out the home schedule Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against Georgia State.

      CAMPUS SPOTLIGHT
Congratulations to the seven outstanding students from Arkansas State University who have been selected as Distinguished Service Award (DSA) winners for 2022-23.  The DSA recipients will be recognized during the Convocation of Scholars as the institution’s most outstanding graduates based on their record of leadership, scholarship and citizenship.  You can read more about the Distinguished Service Award and recipients at AState.edu.

      GET YOUR WOLVES UP!

This week’s #WolvesUp photos features a group photo from our trip to the Wynne Tornado Distribution Center.

Our other photo features former Governor Mike Beebe, chancellor Dr. Todd Shields, head men’s basketball coach Bryan Hodgson and Brad Phelps and Shane Broadway from our ASU System Office with head women’s bowling coach Justin Kostick before the team departed for the NCAA Women’s Bowling Championship being played tomorrow and Saturday in Las Vegas.
