Snider Foundation Provides Graduate Nursing Scholarships

08/07/2019

JONESBORO – The Dorothy Snider Foundation recently presented a $25,000 gift to Arkansas State University to provide scholarships for students pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing, family nurse practitioner option, in the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

The Dorothy Snider Foundation, a private charitable foundation, supports scholarship funds and educational endeavors in the areas of medicine, law, theology, business or any of the natural sciences or scientific fields, within Arkansas and Tennessee.

This is the first scholarship of its kind for these students.

“The Foundation has been very impactful in supporting students in high workforce need areas. We are so appreciative of the scholarship gift for our family nurse practitioner students,” stated Dr. Susan Hanrahan, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

Participants in the program will earn a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with an emphasis in family nurse practitioner. Financial support continues to be important to student success, including at the graduate level.

Partnering with the Dorothy Snider Foundation will allow A-State to provide financial assistance to deserving students, and will leave a lasting impact on both the student and the healthcare industry in our region.

To provide more Arkansans opportunities and create a pipeline for the next generation of the state’s healthcare providers, A-State continues to offer a highly competitive and quality program to meet the needs of Arkansans. A-State utilizes the most up-to-date technologies and strongly values inter-professional collaborative efforts across the region.

Among the program’s strengths are two onsite clinical visits per semester, most affordable tuition in the region, and the most required clinical contact hours for a MSN degree in the region.  More than half the program content includes direct interaction with faculty and students, including family nurse practitioner specialty and health assessment courses.
