HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (10/22/23) – Arkansas State senior women’s golfer Elise Schultz shot 6-under 66 and is tied atop the 96-player field following the first round of the Diamante Intercollegiate at Diamante Country Club.
Schultz, playing as an individual, tied her career-low round at 6-under 66 and ties for the second-lowest in program history. Schultz posted seven birdies and an eagle to offset one bogey and a double-bogey on the card. She is tied with Samantha Dizon of California Baptist for the lead, one stroke ahead of Canice Screene of Boston College.
A-State stands tied for fifth in the team standings with host Little Rock. The Red Wolves totaled 2-over 290 and are one stroke back of Memphis for fourth. California Baptist (-7), Boston College (-6) and Central Arkansas (-3) comprise the top three teams.
Anne-Lea Lavoie turned in her third par or better round of the season with a 1-under 71 to tie for 13th. Morgan Beaulieu shot even-par 72 to tie for 22nd while Olivia Coit and Shannon Berry were 1-over 73 to tie for 39th. Ashley Kim finished the opening round at 2-over 74 to tie for 51st and Charlotte Menager (+5) tied for 77th.
