AZUSA/LONG BEACH, Calif. (4/14/23) – Four school records fell on Friday for the Arkansas State track and field program at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Jacob Pyeatt began the day by breaking the men’s 10,000 meters record, winning with a time of 29:11.66. Hannes Fahl later recorded a school-record time of 1:48.70 in the men’s 800 meters – a record that stood since 1988 – and finished 22nd overall.

Later in the evening, Colby Eddowes completed the decathlon with 7,543 points – breaking the previous school record, set in 2000, by 148 points.

Rahel Broemmel capped off the tremendous day by eclipsing A-State great Kristina Aubert’s 5000 meters school record by over 25 seconds, running a time of 16:04.11 to earn a runner-up finish. Pauline Meyer followed close behind in 16:14.19 to move to second in school history.

Eddowes’ second day of competition included a first-place result in the 110-meter hurdles portion (14.10), as well as a personal-best javelin throw mark of 45.75m (150-1). Patryk Baran finished fourth with 7,042 points, a total that is 10th-best in school history.

Sarah Trammel took first place in the women’s 10,000 meters, running a career-best 34:48.59.

In the men’s 5000 meters, Coleman Wilson clocked a time of 14:47.68, a season best. Kayla Wade placed 24th with a time of 17:26.69 in the women’s 5000 meters.

Cheyenne Melvin clocked a season-best time of 2:07.72 to place 37th in the women’s 800 meters.

Friday’s distance carnival was in progress at the time of publication, and event results will be updated Saturday on social media and AStateRedWolves.com.

At the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Aimar Palma Simo placed eighth in the men’s hammer throw, tossing the implement 67.12m (220-2).
