NEW ORLEANS, La. (2/13/23) – Extending her program record with a 40th career par or better round, senior Olivia Schmidt shot 1-under par 71 to lead the Arkansas State women’s golf team in the second round of the Tulane Classic Monday at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
Schmidt was among eight golfers in the field to go under par Monday. She had five birdies, four bogeys and nine pars on the round to move up 25 spots individually to a tie for seventh with a 36-hole total of 5-over par 149. Olivia Coit turned in a 4-over par 76 in the second round and is tied for 74th overall while Elise Schultz carded a second round 5-over par 77 and is tied for 31st at 10-over par. Morgan Beaulieu finished the second round at 6-over par and is tied for 84th while an 8-over par 80 has Casey Sommer also tied for 84th after 36 holes.
A-State improved by 23 strokes Monday by carding a second round 302 after an opening round 325. The Red Wolves climbed three spots to a tie for 13th with Howard with a 36-hole total of 627. A-State enters the final round two stroks shy of Chattanooga for 12th while Cal Poly and Boston College are tied for 10th at 43-over par 619. Purdue holds the lead at 8-over par 584 with host Tulane (+24), Incarnate Word (+28), UTEP (+31) and Southern Miss (+33) rounding out the top five.
