CORVALLIS, Ore. (10/10/23) – Collecting his third top-three finish in four tournaments, Thomas Schmidt helped the Arkansas State men’s golf team to a third-place finish among 14 teams at the Oregon State Invitational that concluded Tuesday at Trysting Tree Golf Club.
Schmidt closed out a third-place individual finish with an even-par 71, his ninth par or better round in 12 rounds played this season. He totaled 2-under par 211 for the tournament, two strokes shy of Nicholas Prieto of Arizona State for individual medalist honors. Jake Lile was 2-over par 73 in the final round to total 11-over par 224 (74-77-73) and a tie for 49th. Jack Maxey tied for 27th with a total of 8-over par 221 (77-69-75) while Chris Somerfield (71-74-79) and Pierce Johnson (72-70-82) also tied for 49th.
As a team, the Red Wolves totaled 14-over par 298 on the final round to finish third behind Oregon State (+3) and Washington State (+9). Seattle (+21) and Utah (+21) tied for fourth while Southern Miss (+24), Boise State (+26), Idaho (+30), Gonzaga (+30) and Long Beach State (+33) completed the top-10.
A-State closes out the fall portion of its schedule Oct. 29-31 at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate in Charleston, S.C.
