ARLINGTON, Texas (1/28/23) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team is sixth among 12 teams at the Prairie View Invitational heading into the final day of competition Sunday.

A-State (37-14) went 2-3 in head-to-head traditional matches Saturday. The Red Wolves suffered back-to-back setbacks against Stephen F. Austin (997-972) and Prairie View A&M (972-951), but fought back to defeat Long Island University 961-869 in match three. Following a narrow 1,030-1,016 loss to Youngstown State, A-State closed the day with a 1,008-990 victory against Nebraska.

Brooklyn Buchanan paced A-State downing 1,049 pins for an average of 209.80 and a 10th place ranking. Sarah Sanes ranks 18th with 1,019 pins and Maggie Thoma was 29th with an average of 193.50 in two games bowled. Emma Stull ranked 35th with average of 191 and Karli VanDuinen was 36th posting an average of 190.80. Faith Welch bowled three games and averaged 181.33 to rank 52nd.

Despite a 6-4 head-to-head record, Nebraska leads the 12-team field with 10,294 pins after 10 matches played. Vanderbilt (10,204) is second with Stephen F. Austin (9,963), McKendree (9,919) and Youngstown State (9,905) rounding out the top five. A-State has downed 9,882 pins for an average of 197.6.
