TUNICA, Miss. (4/17/23) – Behind a strong second round performance, the Arkansas State men’s golf team holds the 36-hole lead over 11 other teams at the Tunica National Intercollegiate.
A-State was 4-over par 292 in the first round on the course at Tunica National, but a 5-under par 283 in the second round has the Red Wolves on top of the leaderboard. The Red Wolves lead North Alabama by two strokes and UT Arlington by three. Samford (+7) is fourth followed by Southeastern Louisiana (+8), Oral Roberts (+13) and Jacksonville State (+13).
Thomas Schmidt paced the Red Wolves totaling even-par 144 for the day to tie for 11th. Schmidt had the low round of the day for A-State at 3-under par 69 in the second round. Luka Naglic (72-73), Jack Madden (75-70) and Devyn Pappas (70-75) are each tied for 13th in the individual standings at 1-over par 145. Jack Maxey (75-71) is tied for 20th at 2-over par 146. Playing as an individual, Felix Krammer (70-71) is tied for fourth with a total of 3-under par 141 while Pierce Johnson (77-74) is tied for 41st at 7-over par 151.
