
RUSTON, La. (10/31/20) – Yasmine Humbert and Rebecca Brody were unbeaten in singles and doubles action to highlight play for Arkansas State women’s tennis in the first of two days of competition at the Louisiana Tech Invitational.
A-State opened the two-day, five-team event with a perfect 4-0 record in doubles and six wins in 14 singles matches. Humbert and Brody won both of their singles’ matches while Jill Morse and Nejla Zukic each picked up on singles’ victory, respectively. The Red Wolves are joined by host Louisiana Tech, Louisiana, ULM and Grambling at the two-day event.
The Red Wolves No. 1 doubles duo of Hunter Roper and Thea Rice topped a pair from ULM 6-2 and Shelby King and Jill Morse teamed up for 7-6 (5) triumph over another duo from ULM. Zukic and Humbert earned a 7-5 win over a pair from Grambling while Brody and Amelia Guevremont edged a pair from Grambling 7-6 (6).

Zukic won her initial singles match 6-2, 7-6 (2) over Jimena Garbino of ULM, but fell in the second round of her flight to Lara Unkovich 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (5). Humbert earned straight-set victories over Brittney Combest (Grambling) 6-2, 7-6 (2) and Lucie Raquin (Louisiana) 6-3, 6-4. Brody opened with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ana Ochoa (Grambling) and followed with a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (7) defeat of Danna Galeano (Grambling). Jill Morse added a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Mikaila Coleman (Grambling) after falling in her first match of the day, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5) to Daniela Hernandez of ULM.
