DENTON, Texas (2/4/23) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team dropped the first of two matches in Texas this weekend 6-1 at North Texas Saturday.
A-State (0-4) dropped the doubles point with North Texas (6-1) winning 6-2 on court two over Anna Borovinskaya and Sofia Vdovychenko and 6-4 on court three versus Yasmine Humbert and Abigail Thurmer. Rebecca Brody and Sarah Millard faced a 5-2 defecit on court one when the Mean Green clinched the point.
North Texas claimed a 2-0 advantage with Olivia Malm winning 6-1, 6-1 over Borovinskaya on court three. The Mean Green made it 3-0 with Matilde Morais winning in straight sets on court two over Brody 6-0, 6-0. North Texas clinched the match with Jasmine Adams downing Sarah Millard 7-5, 6-2 on court one.
Playing the match out to completion, Thurmer took one set on court four, but came up short 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 against Olivia Halvorsen. Humbert came up short against Kexuan Zhou 6-2, 7-5 on court five while Vdovychenko defeated Nformi Stadfany 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 on court six.
