A-State owned an early one-point lead early in the contest, but the Cajuns moved ahead with a 7-0 run capped by a pair of Garnett treys. Louisiana then pushed its lead out to nine on a Kitenge score before ending the first 20 minutes with a 6-0 run to lead 41-28 at the break.
Louisiana’s lead expanded to as much as 19 with eight minutes to play, but the Red Wolves upped the intensity defensively and moved back within seven with a 16-4 run, putting the score at 69-62 with less than four minutes remaining. Izaiyah Nelson scored on a layup with 46.3 seconds remaining to make it a four-point game, while A-State held the Cajuns without a field goal for the final 2 minutes, 43 seconds.
