HUMBLE, Texas (3/21/23) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team climbed three spots in the final round of the All-American Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston to finish sixth among an elite 21-team field that included 10 of the top-100 teams per Golfstat rankings.
A-State, ranked No. 82 in the latest Golfstat rankings, registered a 2-over par 290 in the final round to move up three spots for the sixth-place finish at 8-over par 872. No. 29 Ole Miss won the event at 9-under par 855 with No. 14 Tennessee (-5) and No. 36 Louisville (-5) tied for second. No. 17 Kansas State (+2) was fourth and No. 72 Sam Houston (+4) fifth. The Red Wolves pick up top-50 wins over LSU (+9) and No. 46 Houston (+13), and were the top finishers among six Sun Belt programs in the field ahead of No. 62 Southern Miss (+22), No. 85 ULM (+27), Texas State (+22), Louisiana (+31) and Georgia State (+34).
Jack Maxey led the Red Wolves with a final round 2-under par 70 to total 218 (74-74-72) for the event and tie for 17th. Jack Madden finished up a solid week with a 2-over par 74 and tied for 14th with a total of 217 (73-70-74). Luka Naglic had his best round of the week with a 1-under par 71 to finish tied for 44th to total 222 (73-78-71). Thomas Schmidt also tied for 44th with a total of 222 (76-68-78) while Devyn Pappas tied for 53th with total of 225 (73-77-75). In the individual event on the members course, Felix Krammer finished up tied for seventh with a final round 2-over par 74 to total 220 (75-71-74).
