NEW ORLEANS, La. (2/12/23) – Opening the spring slate, the Arkansas State women’s golf team is tied for 16th after the first round of the Tulane Classic played at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
A-State turned in an opening round 37-over par 325 and is tied with Charleston Southern for 16th among 18 teams. The Red Wolves are 10 strokes shy of South Dakota and Iowa for ninth. Purdue holds the day one lead at 11-over par 299, the only team to break 300 on the par-72, 6,268-yard course Sunday. UTEP is second at 18-over par while Southern Miss and Tulane are tied for third at 21-over par 309.
Individually, Elise Schultz carded the low round of the day among the Red Wolves golfers. Schultz had a team-high three birdies in her 5-over par 77 first round and is tied for 19th. Olivia Schmidt is tied for 32nd at 6-over par while Casey Sommer and Olivia Coit are tied for 81st at 13-over par. Morgan Beaulieu had two birdies, but finished the round at 15-over par and tied for 91st.
