
THE COLONY, Texas (6/5/20) – In her first competition since the COVID-19 pandemic ended the collegiate season, sophomore Oliva Schmidt of the Arkansas State women’s golf team finished tied for 10th among amateurs at the Texas Women’s Open this week.
Schmidt carded an opening round 75 (+4), but posted a second round 74 (+3) before closing out the event with a final round 72 (+1). She finished tied for 10th among 64 amateurs. The final round 72 (+1) was the third-lowest round among amateurs.
In what ended up being the final competition of the season, Schmidt won the Lady Cat Invitational back on March 13. Schmidt finished the campaign with a 74.04 stroke average to rank second in program history. She posted four top-10 finishes in eight events, finishing in the top-25 in six of those eight tournaments.

Freshman Sydni Leung also competed as an amateur in the tournament. She posted a first and second round total of 79 (+8) for a two-round total of 158, but missed the cut at +16.
