JONESBORO, ARK. (6/3/20) – Following a remarkable season by the Arkansas State women’s bowling team, nine Red Wolves received All-Academic recognition, announced by the Southland Bowling League, Wednesday.
Julia Huren, Taylor Davis, Averi Brown, Emma Stull, Montana Meyer, Lauren Bunting, Sheila Sutfin, Faith Welch and Sarah Sanes all earned academic accolades. A-State’s nine recipients tied for most in the league with Valparaiso and Youngstown State.
Global Supply Management and Marketing major Huren, managed a 3.46 grade point average while landing second-team All-American honors. The senior received first-team all-Southland Bowling League recognition, after she registered an outstanding three all-tournament titles, to go along with Bowler of Month recognition, for the month of November. She finished the season with an 89.75% Player Performance Index (PCPI), which was second-best in the conference.
Majoring in Biological Sciences, Davis earned a 3.32 GPA and was named to the 2020 A-State AD Honor Roll. Davis notched all-third team All-American honors after she punched in an MVP performance for the Red Wolves at the Big Red Invitational (March 1).
The junior finished the 2019-20 campaign with an impressive 78.40 PCPI, which was tied for fifth best in the SBL. The Davison, Mich. native lead the Red Wolves to an outstanding 83-32 finish, which ranked the squad No. 2 in the nation, in the National Tenpins Coaches Association Poll, which was announced in April.
Raleigh, N.C., native Stull, a Psychology major, registered a 3.5 GPA and was named to the All-Southland Bowling league Third-Team. The freshman bowled to an impressive 85.4 filled frame percentage to go along with an 60.32% PCPI.
Computer and Information technology major, Meyer finished the academic year with a 3.46 and was named to the A-State AD Honor Roll. Imperial, Mo., native Meyer, bowled in 688 complete frames as she knocked down 59% of total frames.
Columbus, Ohio native Brown, an Interdisciplinary Studies registered a 3.37 GPA and was named the A-State AD Honor Roll. Brown bowled in 697 complete frames as knocked down 58% of total
Cabot, Ark., native Bunting a Graphic Design Major, registered a 3.93 GPA and bowled in three complete frames. Sutfin an Elementary Education major, registered a 3.61 as she bowled in 31 complete frames for the Red Wolves. Welch, a Chemistry major, earned a 3.375 GPA as she bowled in 326 complete frames to help lead A-State to an 83-32 finish.
Sanes, a Creative Media Production major, earned a 3.86 GPA as she bowled in 724 complete frames for A-State. The freshman knocked down 61% of total frames on the 2019-20 campaign.
