Multimedia Journalism Students Capture 42 College Media Association Awards

JONESBORO —  Multimedia journalism students at Arkansas State University picked up a whopping 42 awards, including six general excellence, at last week’s Arkansas College Media Association (ACMA) Conference. They included newspaper, radio and online news categories.

ASU-TV news finished with six first-place wins, including general excellence awards, while KASU 91.9  FM radio grabbed six victories and one general excellence. The Herald, the newspaper produced by students in the School of Media and Journalism, won six first-places and two general excellence awards.

General Excellence — Newspaper of the year, The Herald (Krishnan Collins, Lily Cabbibi-Wilkin of Hot Springs, Alex Clark of Fairdealing, Mo., Hannah Risker of Paragould, Tristan Bennett of Carlisle, Drew Morgan of Benton, Brad Brewer of Camden and Sook Young Yoo of Jonesboro (second); TV outlet of the year, ASU-TV, Bennett and Maddison Smith of Lake City and Yu Bai of Kunming, China (first); TV anchor, Bennett (first), Smith (second); radio outlet of the year, Red Wolf Radio (Eli Kosinski of  LaPorte, Ind., Kayla Lindsey of Ozark, Hayden Savage of Mammoth Spring, Isaiah Nortier of Jonesboro, Smith, Andrew Jones of Jonesboro, Kerra Williams of Miramar, Fla.)  (first);  newspaper editor of the year (The Herald), Krishnan Collins of Sherwood (honorable mention).
