Written by Press Release

May 14, 2018

BLYTHEVILLE, AR – Benny Ray Huddleston, 32, pleaded guilty to Negligent Homicide today in Mississippi County Circuit Court in Blytheville. Mr. Huddleston was accused of Negligent Homicide and Driving While Intoxicated on October 16, 2016. He crossed a highway centerline into oncoming traffic, striking the vehicle of Michele Walker, 54, causing her death.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Gina Knight and Curtis Walker represented the State of Arkansas. Mr. Huddleston was represented by James W. Harris and Zachary W. Morrison of Blytheville. Judge Brent Davis agreed to sentence Mr. Huddleston to eight years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections followed by ten years suspended imposition of sentence.

Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington said, “I want to thank Deputy Prosecutors Gina Knight and Curtis Walker for their hard work and dedication to justice in this case. I also want to commend Arkansas State Police for their fine work investigating this matter. I would also like to remind the citizens of Mississippi County to never drink and drive. The consequences are devastating, and the lives lost to irresponsible decisions can never be replaced.”
