JONESBORO, Ark. (1/22/24) – Game two matchups for the MAC-SBC Challenge have been unveiled, the MAC and Sun Belt Conference jointly announced Monday.
A-State’s men’s basketball team is set to host Ohio (9-9) at 2 p.m. inside First National Bank Arena, while the women’s squad travels to Akron (6-10), with tip-off slated for 1 p.m. CT.
The slate of games will feature 12 Sun Belt Conference (SBC) men’s basketball programs hosting 12 Mid-American Conference (MAC) teams and 12 SBC women’s basketball teams visiting 12 MAC programs based on current NET rankings.
The Red Wolves have faced Ohio once in men’s basketball action, dropping a 69-54 decision on the road against the Bobcats in 2011. Meanwhile, A-State’s women will be taking on the Zips for the first time in program history.
In the early-season matchups, A-State’s men dropped an 81-75 decision at Bowling Green while the women’s team downed Northern Illinois 75-62 in Jonesboro.
Each MAC and Sun Belt team included in the MAC-SBC Challenge, currently scheduled to take place during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns, is guaranteed one home and one away game each season.
