KLEK 102.5 FM to host 1st Annual Juneteenth Celebration

KLEK 102.5 will be hosting its first Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 16, 2018 starting at 10 am at University Heights Lions Club Park. We are seeking local businesses and organizations to collaborate with us to make this a spectacular event. We will have speakers providing educational information, performances by local dance teams, poets and musicians along with games for the whole family to enjoy. There will be local food and merchandise vendors on site. We would love for the community as a whole to be apart of this celebration. Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration.

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.  Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
