KASU Music Night with Lost Pizza to Feature Mark Currey

July 28, 2019

07/23/2019

JONESBORO –KASU 91.9 FM, Arkansas State University’s radio station, and Lost Pizza Company are collaborating for a special “KASU Music Night” featuring singer-songwriter Mark Currey.  This free event will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Lost Pizza Company on Southwest Drive in Jonesboro.

Currey, of Little Rock, is nominated for two 2019 Arkansas County Music Awards, Vocal Group of the Year for his collaboration with Searcy’s Bonnie Montgomery, and Song of the Year for his composition, “Come Sunday Morning.”  Currey will present an acoustic set of his original compositions as well as cover songs. He will be accompanied by other Little Rock area musicians.

Inspired by roots rock, classic country, folk and Americana music as well as southern Gothic literature, Currey is a storyteller searching for an honest expression of his own southern voice.  Currey has shared the stage with artists such as Radney Foster, Billy Joe Shaver, Todd Snider, Chris Knight, Jack Ingram, American Aquarium, Wanda Jackson, Amanda Shires, David Olney, Charlie Robison, Amelia White and Lilly Hiatt.

KASU program director and host of Arkansas Roots, Marty Scarbrough, adds, “Mark Currey’s original songs are snapshots of the American experience with relatable characters and unforgettable stories.  His song writing skills are on par with some of the greatest troubadours to emerge from America’s heartland.”

Any questions about this event can be directed to KASU Corporate Relations Director Doreen Selden, at 870-972-2709 or [email protected].

KASU broadcasts to listeners in northeast Arkansas, southeast Missouri and northwest Tennessee at 91.9 FM.  The station also streams its signal online at kasu.org, and KASU is available on smart speakers by asking “Play K-A-S-U.”
