Happy Birthday, Stephanie Mills!

March 22, 2021

Happy birthday to the legendary Stephanie Mills!

Stephanie Mills celebrates her 64th birthday today. The New York
native got her big break  when she played Dorothy in The Wiz on
Broadway from 1974 to 1979. She also conquered the music industry,
scoring five number one hits on the Billboard R&B chart  from 1986 to
1989. Mills would also win a Grammys in 1981 for  Best Rhythm & Blues
Vocal Performance – Female for “Never Knew Love Like This Before.”

In 2015, returned to The Wiz for NBC live musical production.
However, she didn’t play Dorothy, she played Aunt Em, forty years
after her initial Broadway run in the show.

Stephanie Mills is an R&B legend and continues to be an inspiration to
many R&B artists today.
