This season is the 44th year of volleyball at Arkansas State and A-State has an all-time mark of 1,037-528-5 (.658) and had the 19th most wins in Division I and watied for the 25th best winning percentage in Division I history entering the 2018 campaign.
Arkansas State enters this week on a two-game win streak over Sun-Belt opponents Louisiana and ULM.
Senior Carlisa May moved into second-place on A-State’s all-time career kills list, surpassing Beth Cochran’s mark of 1636 kills from 1996-99. May currently stands at 1677 kills and could catch all-time leader Margie Kolat (1991-94) who has 1,789 kills.
May currently ranks sixth in the nation with 360 kills on the year, while also checking in at 11th in the nation with 4.74 kills per set.
Among active players in all of Division I volleyball, May ranks second with her career kills total, and ranks fifth among active players across all divisions.
Ellie Watkins ranks 40th in the nation, and third in the Sun Belt, with 774 total assists on the season.
She is also 72nd in the nation with 10.19 assists per set.
May was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 15 after averaging 5.17 kills per set (31 kills) over Sun Belt opponents Louisiana and ULM. The Lee’s Summit, Mo., Native posted 17 kills and 10 digs against Louisiana and 14 kills and six digs against ULM
The award for May was the 16th weekly award of her career, while it was the third of the season for A-State after Tatum Ticknor and Ellie Watkins earned awards after week one.
Madison Turner tied a career high with seven blocks in the win over Troy and had 10 blocks over both matches for a 1.25 per set mark that is tied for fifth best in the SBC through two league matches.
A-State’s Carlisa May was named SBC Offensive Player of the Week. This weekly award is the second of the 2018 season and 16th of her career.

A-State vs Little Rock Series History
The Red Wolves lead the all-time series with the Trojans by a count of 55-23 with the first three meetings occurring during the 1975 season and A-State winning all three meetings. The first meeting was in Little Rock with the next two occurring at neutral sites. A-State won the first two meetings 2-1 before a 2-0 sweep in the third.
A-State began the series with 14 straight wins from 1975-1983, but Little Rock won four straight meetings in the 1985 and 1986 seasons.
The Red Wolves won 13 straight meetings from 1988-1995, but since the beginning of the 1996 campaign, the series has been much more competitive with Arkansas State holding a 28-19 advantage during that time frame.
A-State head coach David Rehr is now 10-5 against Little Rock all-time after the Red Wolves have claimed seven straight matches against the Trojans.
Little Rock enters the match with a 13-8 record and 5-3 mark in league play to rank fifth in the West Division.
This is the first meeting of the 2018 campaign
Arkansas State holds the series lead at 40-19, but the series is much closer when the match is held in Little Rock, the Red Wolves have a slight 14-10 edge.
The Red Wolves have a seven-game win streak over the Trojans dating back to the 2014 campaign.
Coach Rehr holds a 10-4 record against little Rock.
Both Arkansas State and Little have players who have earned weekly SBC awards. Trojans’ Veronica Marin received Defensive player of the week while A-State’s Carlisa May was rewarded Offensive player of the week.
Carlisa May led the last meeting with 22 kills, while Ellie Watkins put up 59 assists with 16 digs. Tatum Ticknor posted a match-high 32 digs.

Protecting Home Court
The Red Wolves are 8-0 at home in the 2018 campaign.
A-State has earned four sweeps at First National Bank Arena, 8 sweeps for the season at home or on neutral ground.
The Red Wolves are 10-1 at first National Bank since the naming rights went into effect on Oct. 27. The Red Wolves suffered their only loss to No. 1 seed Coastal Carolina, who went on to win the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
Since naming rights went into effect the Red Wolves have collected 12 sweeps.

MAY CLOSING IN ON HISTORY

WATKINS EYES TOP 10
Senior setter Ellie Watkins has quickly become one of the school’s most dominant setters and could break into the school’s all-time career sets list in just her two seasons at A-State. Watkins currently has 1,699 career assists and could surpass Tistan Erford’s mark of 1,840 career assists before the end of the season for 10th place on the list.
