Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement marking the Thanksgiving holiday:
“From the Cotton family to yours, we wish you and your loved ones a happy Thanksgiving.
“Nearly 400 years ago, our Pilgrim Fathers and the Native Americans shared the bounty of the New World at the first Thanksgiving. They gave thanks to God for delivering them from many hardships, including the near destruction of the Plymouth Colony from disease and starvation.
“Since that first banquet, America has grown from a dangerous and uncharted wilderness into a mighty and united nation. This Thanksgiving, let’s rejoice in the many blessings we enjoy as citizens of the most prosperous and free country on Earth.
“Let’s also give thanks for the many troops who are far from home. We can enjoy the company of family and friends in peace because of their faithful service.”
