Washington, D.C. – Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement on the announcement that Peter Berkowitz has been chosen to lead the State Department’s Office of Policy Planning:

“Peter Berkowitz is an outstanding choice to be the Director of Policy Planning. I’ve known Peter for decades as a teacher, advisor, and friend. He will bring rich international experience, deep historical knowledge, and strategic wisdom to the job. I applaud President Trump and Secretary Pompeo for the inspired selection. The Office of Policy Planning has a storied history to which, I have no doubt, Peter Berkowitz will add another distinguished chapter.”
