JONESBORO, AR. (1/20/18) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team wrapped up competition at the Kutztown Invitational, Sunday with a second-place finish in Reading, Pa.
Denisyha Waller received all-tournament honors with a fourth-place finish in the individual standings with a total pinfall of 1,165 on a 233.00 average.
“I’m extremely happy for Denisyha for making her first all-tournament team this year,” said A-State head coach Justin Kostick. “We’ve been very close winning some events, If we keep putting ourselves in that situation we will eventually break through.”
The Red Wolves began bracket action with a 4-3 loss (187-157, 195-180, 213-168, 217-193, 206-152, 221-207, 226-201) to Stephen F. Austin before defeating Fairleigh Dickinson 4-1 (258-208, 245-172, 185-172, 184-173, 269-189) to advance to the championship match.
A-State took on Stephen F. Austin for the second time for the Kutztown title where it fell 4.5-1.5 (158-158, 246-168, 243-167, 180-178, 191-193, 192-182) to the Lumberjacks.
The Lumberjacks finished the weekend 11-1, while A-State and Maryland Eastern Shore finished the weekend 10-3 each. Stephen F. Austin’s Dakota Hazlewood earned tournament MVP honors with a total pinfall of 1,212 on a 242.40 average.
A-State returns to action Feb. 1-3 when it competes in the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington, Tx.
