JONESBORO, Ark. (12/6/22) – Arkansas State true-freshman place-kicker Dominic Zvada has been named to the 2022 College Football News (CFN) Freshman All-America Team.
Zvada, a CFN first team selection, was named First Team All-Sun Belt last week and was also named to the Pro Football Focus (PFF) College All-True Freshman Team.
A Lou Groza Award semifinalist, Zvada broke the Sun Belt Conference single-season record by a true freshman for points by kicking in a season with 81, which is also the ninth most in school history. He led the Sun Belt in field goal percentage while also ranking fifth in in scoring by kick and seventh in overall scoring. He ranks fifth in the nation in field goal percentage and 24th in the country (first in the Sun Belt) in field goals per game. He made a career-long 56-yard field goal against Texas State that is the second longest in FBS this season. Among freshmen only, he leads the nation in field goal percentage and ranks second in field goals made.
Zvada is the fourth A-State freshman named to the CFN Freshman All-American Team, first since defensive lineman Amos Draper in 2010. Safety Tyrell Johnson and linebacker Josh Williams also earned CFN Freshman All-America honors in 2004. Zvada is the ninth player in program history to earn Freshman All-America honors, first since Corey Rucker was named a Freshman All-American by FWAA Scripps. Other Freshmen All-Americans include; running back Reggie Arnold (FWAA/Sporting News), wide receiver J.D. McKissic (FWAA), defensive end Ja’Von Rolland-Jones (FWAA/Scout), linebacker Josh Williams (Sporting News/CFN), kicker Josh Arauco (Sporting News), Tyrell Johnson (CFN) and Amos Draper (CFN).
