JONESBORO, Ark. (2/28/25) – Arkansas State’s Colby Eddowes and Michelle Ogbemudia received Field Performer of the Year recognition, as the Sun Belt Conference announced its 2025 Indoor Track and Field postseason honors Friday.
Eddowes was named the Men’s Field Performer of the Year after successfully defending his conference title in the heptathlon. The Canberra, Australia, native scored a season-best 5,738 points to claim his fourth straight gold medal at a conference meet. He also placed fifth in the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.17m (23-6.25).
Ogbemudia’s honor is her second straight, as she was named last season’s Women’s Newcomer of the Year. The Plano, Texas, native took gold in the women’s weight throw with a meet-record mark of 21.75m (71-4.25), which also broke her own school record in the event. Ogbemudia followed it up in the shot put with a silver medal, throwing a personal-best 16.37m (53-8.5) to rank second in program history.
Sixteen athletes earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors, based on athletes’ highest podium finish at the championships. Gold medalist earned first-team recognition, while those winning silver and bronze received second and third-team laurels.
A combined 12 men earned all-league accolades, led by four first-teamers: Eddowes, Will Glass, Noa Isaia and Jacob Pyeatt. Bradley Jelmert, Josh Jones, Avinash Patel and Brandon Williams received second-team nods, while the third team included Willem Coertzen, Mehki Hoo, Kamil Przybyla and Spencer Taylor.
Carly Pujol joined Ogbemudia on the first team, while Miranda Burgett and Kiara Strayhorn earned second and third-team honors.
